For this trip, a passport is required and your passport expiration must be more than 6 months after our return to the USA (i.e. expire after 8/4/26).  For 2026, a new European entry requirement, ETIAS, may go into effect.   ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System. It is an automated system that allows visa-exempt travelers to enter Europe and is linked to the traveler’s passport. The implementation date is not known at this time.
